The Jewish Congregation "Adath Emuno" was organized in
September, 1871. Its first pace of Worship' was Odd
Fellows' Hall, where the congregation remained from 1871 to
1874. The congregation then removed to Bloomfield and Fifth
Streets, where it remained for nine years. In 1883 the present
handsome temple was completed and dedicated. It is located
on Garden between Sixth and Seventh Streets. The first rabbi
of the congregation was the Rev. Solomon Schindler, followed by
Rev. Isaac Schickler, Rev. M. Karasch, Rev. M. Kauffman, Rev.
S. Langer, at present Rev. Nathan M. Wolf. The church has 53
members. Its religious school has 75 members.
The societies of the temple are: Hebrew Ladies' Aid Society,
Herman Heyman Auxiliary, Young People's Society and the
Children's Club.
