THE park area of Hoboken is 336,000 square feet, distributed as follows:
| Hudson Square Park | 138,000 sq. feet |
| Church Square Park | 138,000 sq. feet |
| Elysian Park | 60,000 sq. feet |
| Hudson County Park (estimated) | 261,144 sq. feet |
Not until 1873, however, were these park lands improved for the purpose for which they were dedicated.
The westerly portion of Elysian Park was presented in 1893 by the H. L. & l. Co., and the easterly portion was acquired by purchase: already it adds much to the attractiveness of its neighborhood.
Steps have been taken by the Hudson County Park Commission to acquire the property known as the St. George Cricket Grounds and some adjacent lots and parts of streets. This will be improved by the County Park Commission with all the modern facilities for recreation and nwde a model park in every way.
